Painting the Amada of Evil IV

Detailing has started and the hulls are coming closer to completion. Further to that I have managed to complete all the bases for the flyers, with the exception of static grass, as I’m yet to decide on what I want to use. The bases are made as detailed in this tutorial:

Finally I have painted all engine exhausts – It is just thinned GW scorched earth + thinned GW Black drybrushed over the metallic paint. I tried blue ink as well to give the heated steel look, but that was not really a success.

More to come :o)

Painting the Amada of Evil III

Freehand all over, as I take yesterdays trial to the production line. 4 x Raider / Ravager hulls + a Venom has been painted up with freehand. And on top of that I have done the gradient fade of colors on the sails – This was done using the Airbrush using a light blue, a dark blue and black (all Vallejo AB colors)

Detailing awaits, so stay tuned…

Painting the Amada of Evil II

The painting progresses nicely, and a Raider hull is now painted with freehand for trial purposes. I’m really happy about the result. I decided to go for a blue barbed wire across the hull to break up the large areas of red. Further to that the edges have been highlighted with GW Blood Red. Colours used for the blue freehand is GW foundation Necron Abyss, GW Ultramarine Blue, GW Ice Blue, GW Space Wolves Grey.

I also worked a little with the airbrush – Spraying a couple of Venoms and priming the sails for the Raiders/Ravager.

It is my intention to do a gradient fade of blue to white on the sail but that is still to come, so stay tuned…

Painting the Amada of Evil I

WIP It’s time to get to the paint station – This time I take on the Amada of Evil. That would be the majority of my DE vehicles. Last month was all summer vacation and assembly of my Dark Eldars, but now it is time for some pictures. I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures, but the camera in my cell-phone is the only camera I got ATM.

I’ve started with 3 x raider and 1 x Ravager. The first step was of cause to prime them. As you’ll notice I haven’t glued the lower decks together, in order to be able to paint them properly.

Today’s paint session was airbrushing metal and red. Metal is just Vallejo AB Crome  and the red is Vallejo AP Mahogany as base with a light spray of Vallejo AB Italian Red over

More to come - Stay tuned :o)

Old School Dark Eldar

While tidying up in the doll house I came across my old collection of W40k Dark Eldar – Unpainted and punished, but still with some useable bits and pieces. I used a couple of old warriors to get all special weapon options from a new DE warrior box – The two are relatively compatible, and the result is useable (but not price-winning).

Another thing I found was 3 old Reaver bikes – Very different in design compared to the new bikes, but still very nice. I painted one up to be used as an arena champ and I think that the other two will (eventually) end up as new bikes by combining them with spare bits from the new Reaver set or simple carry the special weapons that I didn’t mount while assembling the new Reavers.

Here are the pictures of the painted old school reaver:

Finally I came across a ton of metal dolls – Wyches, Mandrakes, Incubi, Haemonculus, Hellions and a Talos engine. The Haemonculus can be used straight out of the box, and I recon that most of the other can also be used with a little conversion using bits from the new Dark Eldar range. Right now I’m looking for bits for my Talos engine, a conversion / painting job that I’m looking really forward to…

Dark Eldar Reavers

I have completed my first squad for my new DE army – 3 Reavers w. heat lance. I must admit that these little skimmers really had me hooked following the release of the new Dark Eldar range… Nice crisp dolls, even nicer after having painted them :o)

ENJOY!
